If you are a homeowner and you hire someone to do work in your bathroom near or around the shower or vanity area or the kitchen counter area and that "person" uses a silicone-based caulk you should make sure it says on the tube of caulk that is paintable

Because if it's not and you hire this company to paint those areas the price goes up because you can't paint over silicone-based caulk! Besides not being able to paint over it trying to remove it is time-consuming.

I am running into unpaintable silicone-based caulk all the time these days. And because sometimes it's a clear caulk you don't know it until you start painting over it and then all production stops because you have to fix it.

Sometimes it's a white silicone-based caulk like I had run into on a recent bathroom job. Couldn't paint over it. It looked like regular white paintable caulk.

Work came to a halt.

So if I come to your home or business and have to deal with a silicone-based caulk that shouldn't have been used then the paint job price goes up.

And because I'm running into this problem more and more these days it's the first thing I look for when quoting a kitchen or bathroom job.

The lesson here is don't ever use an unpaintable silicone-based caulk anywhere where the paint will have to come in contact with it.

Unless you don't mind paying more for your paint job.

This is the best all-around caulk for any project.
