How To Paint Exterior Doors

 

Painting your doors is a quick and easy way to give your home a fresh new look. It's also a relatively inexpensive project that you can do yourself. If you're thinking about painting your doors, here are a few tips to help you get started:

Choose the right paint.

 

When choosing paint for your doors, look for a high-quality exterior paint that is specifically designed for wood or metal doors. Jcb Painting uses Benjamin Moore's "MoorGlo Soft Gloss Finish (096)". It's the best IMHO.  You'll also need to decide whether you want to use a brush, roller, or sprayer to apply the paint depending on the type of door.

Prep the surface. 

Before painting, it's important to prepare the surface of the door by removing any old paint or hardware and sanding the door smooth. If you're painting a wood door, you may also need to fill in any cracks or holes with wood putty.

Apply the paint. 

If you're using a brush or roller, be sure to apply thin coats of paint, and allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next. If you're using a sprayer, follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.
