Cabinet Painting - Norton - MA.
This cabinet was installed near the garage entryway for the family coats and shoes before entering the house. |
Interior Painting with Jcb Painting.
Jcb Painting painted this cabinet in Norton, MA. last week. It was first primed with Stix Bonding Primer and finished with 2 coats of Benjamin Moore COROTECH V341.01.1 Pre-Catalyzed Waterborne Epoxy. A top-shelf semi-gloss. The finish is hard as a rock. |

Living Room Wall Painting in Raynham MA.
Jcb Painting finished painting the walls in this living room in Raynham, MA. last week. The homeowner provided the paint which was Benjamin Moore Regal Select eggshell paint and primer. Not a fan of "paint and primer" products and still not. The paint was much thicker than what we usually use and seemed harder to work with. Imho this wall paint is way overpriced and doesn't perform well. |

Hallway painting North Attleboro, MA.
I removed the border, patched and sanded the walls, re-caulked all the baseboards, and jambs.
Then painted all trim and doors with a top-shelf semigloss from Benjamin Moore.
Painted the walls a shade of gray called "shoreline" also by Benjamin Moore.
The homeowners were quite pleased.

Spray Painting Doors in Massachusetts.
It's a nice change in routine when doing an interior painting job in Norton, MA. from baseboard to ceiling and the carpet is being replaced. Which allows me to spray the doors, saving me a lot of time and effort. Resulting in making more money by the hour. Yes.

Jcb Painting's new go-to semi-gloss
Jcb Painting is using this semi-gloss on all interior house painting projects from now on since Benjamin Moore did away with the Regal Classic (Aqua-Glo) semi-gloss, which was the absolute best semi-gloss ever produced.
It's a mystery why they would do something like that but they did.
Thankfully this Corotech semi-gloss is as good as the Regal Classic. Doesn't dry too quickly like their other semi-gloss products and levels out nicely.
None of their other semi's comes close IMHO.

Jcb Painting's New Go To Semi-Gloss
Jcb Painting found this new semi-gloss, Benjamin Moore's Corotech (v341). A straight semi-gloss and NOT a "paint and primer".
I tested 6 other semi's and none of them came close to the quality of the Regal Classic. Then I tried this product. It is just about as good as the Regal Classic. Maybe better.
I'm glad that I can continue to do quality work on my customer's trim, doors, and windows.
Good stuff!

R.I.P. Regal Classic Semi-Gloss (333)
I have been using the "Regal Classic" semi-gloss (333), which used to be called "Aqua Glo", for about 40 years. Every time I used it I marveled at how good it covered. It went on by brush like butter. Flowed and leveled out beautifully. And my doors, windows, and trim really did "Glo". Over the years I received many compliments on my finished paint jobs because of this paint.
Benjamin Moore has replaced it with "Regal Select" semi-gloss paint and primer. This paint has none of the characteristics that the "Regal Classic" had.
This new and "improved" semi-gloss is a thinned-down, quick-drying, just awful replacement for the Regal Classic. And it costs more too. If you can't brush fast, you will have nothing but problems applying it, especially on a warm day. It dries so fast it leaves brush marks. This stuff doesn't have a chance to level out because it starts to set up almost immediately.
What I used to get done in 2 coats with the Regal Classic is now 3 or 4 coats with the "new and improved" Regal Select and it still doesn't look as good.
I never, ever, had brush marks using the Regal Classic because of its leveling out characteristic and more open time. The Regal Select does not have these attributes which makes it a poor replacement.
If your spraying, this Regal Select product would work because it dries so fast. But Jcb Painting does mostly re-paints in occupied homes so spraying is usually not an option.
This reminds me of when Coca-Cola changed its formula in 1985. That went over well.:>)
And as for the do-it-yourselfers, good luck trying to do good work with this semi-gloss paint.
Bring back the Regal Classic Benjamin Moore!
Stay Away. Too much money for an inferior product.

Mansfield Bathroom Painters
This is what happens in your bathroom when you take long hot steamy showers and don't use the ceiling fan. Or you have a ceiling fan that is inadequate to do the job.
Jcb Painting sees a lot of bathrooms like this. Our plan of attack will be to bleach all the moldy areas, (pretty much the whole bathroom here.) scrape away loose peeling paint, and clean up.

Bathroom Painters - Foxboro, MA.
Gray had been the go-to color for the last few years but that seems to be changing. Maybe because of the pandemic?
